CENTRALIZED SECURITY SYSTEM For ADEMCO Units VISTA 4140 XMPT 2
The centralized security system is based on one or more personal computers connected to the ADEMCO units in a networking system.
The system scan in real time any event in the field and immediately localize them representing on maps or pictures the point where the alarm is verified.
It is also possible to send commands for ADEMCO units, for example for activation, in the same way of the consol operator.
The hardware is extremely flexible, to support from 1 to 255 units; in such layout can be identified the following functions:
POLLING: it is the communication handling with ADEMCO units and the decoding of the message; this job is performed by a personal computer, named MASTER which is equipped with a multiserial interface card or with a set of serial communication cards.
OPERATOR INTERFACE: it is the handling of user interface and of some data in the system (configuration data, clients data, operators data and so on). This job may be performed by MASTER (in stand alone configuration) or by a set of dedicated computers, named OPERATOR CONSOLE, connected between them and to the MASTER with a local network.
DATA RECORDING: this kind of jb may be performed by MASTER (in stand-alone configuration) or, when the system comprises a local network, by a dedicated PC called SERVER; in that case the SERVER is also the local network controller.
For safety reason and depending on the complexity of the system it may be necessary to duplicate the functions performed by MASTER with another PC with the same characteristics, named SLAVE; in the case of MASTER failure, SLAVE provides completely the POLLING functions assuring a no break connected units monitoring.
MASTER and SLAVE are connected togheter with a serial port; analyzing the messages sent periodically from the MASTER on that link, the SLAVE checks that MASTER is performing his functions correctly.
According to the above description, the system configuration can be:
STAND ALONE CONFIGURATION: The MASTER will perform all the functions mentioned above; this kind of architecture will be possible only when the number of connected units is low (up to 32 units) because the system speed is limited.
NETWORK CONFIGURATION: The MASTER performs just the POLLING functions; there are one or more OPERATOR CONSOLE that perform the functions related to the user interface and a SERVER that works as network controller and for data backup; this kind of configuration that, in the case of network failure, reverts automatically to STAND ALONE configuration, gives good results up to a maximum of 256 connected units.
Both configurations can include the SLAVE option.
